What is MyUCDavisHealth?

MyUCDavisHealth by Epic Systems Corporation is a free, secure and confidential mobile app and web portal that allows you to review portions of your medical record, manage your health, and communicate with your doctor’s office online at any time. You can also:

  • Make appointments
  • Send and receive secure non-urgent messages with your care team, including: medical advice or follow-up questions, and medication refill requests
  • View a summary of your personal health record
  • View test results
  • Explore health education topics, resources, and videos plus more

Is there a fee to use MyUCDavisHealth?

MyUCDavisHealth is a free service offered to all UC Davis Health patients.

How do I sign up for MyUCDavisHealth?

Patients who wish to participate will be issued a MyUCDavisHealth activation code during their clinic visit. This code will allow you to log in on the app and create your own user ID and password.

You can also sign up on the MyUCDavisHealth web portal by clicking on the Sign Up Now link.

Will I lower my credit score by using the “Verify Identity with a Third-Party” option?

No. We will only verify your identity with Experian. This will not affect your credit score.

When will I see my test results in MyUCDavisHealth?

Most test results are automatically released to your MyUCDavisHealth account. If you don’t see them yet, it could mean the ordering physician may not have had an opportunity to review them.

Please allow time for the physician to review your test results and to send you comments, if needed. Test results will not be viewable if they have not yet been released by the ordering physician or if they are sent to us on paper.

All available test results will be in your medical record upon activation of your MyUCDavisHealth account. Not all test results that have a scanned linked attachment will be viewable in MyUCDavisHealth at this time.

Why are some test results not shared electronically via MyUCDavisHealth?

Certain tests may not be released through auto-time release. These tests include those subject to restrictions by California law and tests ordered for research purposes. Your provider can determine which types of test results are available through MyUCDavisHealth.

What should I do if some of my health information is incorrect in MyUCDavisHealth?

MyUCDavisHealth information comes directly from the electronic medical record at your doctor's office. If something is incorrect or needs to be updated, send a message to your doctor's office using the MyUCDavisHealth Advice Message. You can also ask your doctor to correct any inaccurate information at your next clinic visit. Health information is reviewed and updated at each visit.

If I send a message to my care team, when can I expect a reply?

The care team includes your primary care physician and the specialists you may see, plus the nurses and office staff who support them. You will generally receive an answer within two business days.

Please note that MyUCDavisHealth should not be used for urgent situations. Please call your provider if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 9-1-1 if it is an emergency.

Why isn't my provider listed when trying to send a message?

Some providers are not listed in MyUCDavisHealth ,including radiologists, psychiatrists, residents, and pathologists, inpatient/hospital specialists, etc. Generally, providers you meet during your hospital stay will not be available to message in MyUCDavisHealth. If you do not see the provider you want to message, please call the appropriate clinic to address your current concern.

Can I view a family member's health record in MyUCDavisHealth?

Yes. If you are the patient's legal representative (spouse, parent, guardian, conservator, etc.) you have access to view your family members medical record by logging into their personal MyUCDavisHealth account.

If you have a MyUCDavisHealth account, you can log in and complete an online family member health record request via the access settings submenu.

You can also complete an Access to My Family's Records Consent form, and submit it to UC Davis Health’s Health Information Management Unit by fax, email or mail.

Please note: Patient representatives must be at least 18 years old. UC Davis Health offers parents/guardians medium proxy access. In accordance with California state confidentiality laws specific to teens, proxy access converts to a medium proxy access on the child's 12th birthday and proxy access terminates on the child's 18th birthday.

Birth to 11 years old: Parents and legal guardians are provided with full proxy access to their child's MyUCDavisHealth account. Fifteen days before your child's 12th birthday, you will receive a notification alerting you that your access will be transitioned to a medium proxy access the day before your child's birthday.

12 to 17 years old: Parents and legal guardians are provided with parent/guardian medium proxy access to their child's MyUCDavisHealth account. Fifteen days before the child's 18th birthday, you will receive a notification alerting you that access will be terminated the day before your child's birthday.

Can I ask questions regarding a family member from my MyUCDavisHealth account?

No. MyUCDavisHealth offers direct access to your personal health record and communicating about another individual's information would be placed in your health record. This information would not appear in the correct health record and could potentially jeopardize medical care.

Can I obtain a MyUCDavisHealth account for my family member if I do not receive my own health care at UC Davis Health?

Yes. You can receive a MyUCDavisHealth account for your family member who receives care at UC Davis Health.

Can my spouse and I share one MyUCDavisHealth account?

No. Due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must sign and submit a Release of Information request and establish their own MyUCDavisHealth account.

Can children 12 to 17 years old access MyUCDavisHealth on their own?

Patients age 12 to 17 will be provided full access to their MyUCDavisHealth account. This allows patients to:

  • Message their care team
  • Request an appointment
  • Review upcoming appointments and past visits including after-visit summaries and clinical visit notes
  • Conduct video visits
  • Review test results
  • Review allergies, immunizations and growth charts
  • Review helpful and trustworthy health information on many topics
  • And more

Important note: Teen patients will see their entire medical record, including potentially sensitive information such as birth records, adoption history, or diagnoses.

By law, teens are able to obtain some kinds of health services or information without notifying their parents or guardians. In MyUCDavisHealth, teens must take specific action to prevent their parents with medium proxy access from seeing these kinds of online messages or appointment requests by not sharing password or login information. Where can I update my personal information (e.g., home address, e-mail or change my password)?

Log in to MyUCDavisHealth. From the Profile menu click Personal Information. Update your provider's office directly with a change of address and phone number.

How is MyUCDavisHealth secure?

We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Further, MyUCDavisHealth uses encryption technology with no caching to automatically encrypt your session with MyUCDavisHealth. Unlike conventional e-mail, all MyUCDavisHealth messaging is done while you are securely logged on to our website.

What is UC Davis Health's privacy policy?

MyUCDavisHealth is owned and operated by UC Davis Health and is fully compliant with federal and state laws pertaining to your privacy. We treat your name and e-mail address with the same care and privacy given to your health records. No information will ever be sold or leased by MyUCDavisHealth.

I was logged out of MyUCDavisHealth, what happened?

We aim to protect your privacy and security of your information. While logged into MyUCDavisHealth, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of MyUCDavisHealth. We recommend that you log out of your MyUCDavisHealth session if you need to leave your computer for even a short period of time.

Is my information stored on the Internet?

No. We take your privacy very seriously. When logged into MyUCDavisHealth, the web servers request data from a secure database and present that data over a SSL (secure sockets layer) connection to ensure confidentiality. At no time is this data stored on the web servers or made available to search engines.

What should I do if my activation code does not work?

For your security, if you do not activate your MyUCDavisHealth account within 45 days, your activation code expires and is no longer valid. If this occurs, click Sign Up Now.

You can choose to verify your identity with Experian to activate your account immediately, or select to match your information with our records and an activation code will be emailed to you within two business days.

Is my activation code my username?

No. Your activation code is not your MyUCDavisHealth username or password. Use the activation code once to activate your MyUCDavisHealth account for the first time. (The code expires after use or after 45 days). During your first visit in to MyUCDavisHealth, you create a unique MyUCDavisHealth username and password.
